Introducing the Eighth Generation of this Monumental Vehicle

Like fine wine or a thirty-year-old scotch, some things just get better with age, and the 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI is proof positive that experience pays off when it comes to creating a sophisticated vehicle.

Whenever a new Volkswagen Golf is released for sale, it always gets a fair amount of attention. And why wouldn’t it? Historically, they’re fun cars to drive, reliably built, and great on fuel economy. They’re small in stature, but great on handling when whipping through tight turns.

As popular as the VW Golf has been, the Golf GTI is another animal entirely. Drivers and reviewers wait with bated breath for the GTI because they know they’re going to get something truly special out of it. It’s never “just another VW.” The VW Golf GTI represents a benchmark in aesthetic quality and performance that sets the bar – not just among the VW line-up – but with all compact vehicles in its class. Let’s get up close and personal with the 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI.

The All-New 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI

There’s a lot to get to know about this 2022 iteration of VW Golf GTI for sale, which officially marks the eighth generation of this illustrious line of vehicles. The new VW Golf GTI aims to bring more power and more sophistication to the table than ever before, which starts with an upgraded exterior and interior. Of course, people are still going to pick out the new GTI out of a long line-up of vehicles based on looks alone. It still has many of the hallmarks that its predecessors had before it, but with some noticeable upgrades to usher it into the modern age.

The new GTI has undergone a complete redesign to the exterior panels of the vehicle to give it a more aggressive look. On the lower air intake grille an X-shaped formation of honeycomb lights serves as the new signature look for those observing the GTI in oncoming traffic. Get a little closer and you’ll see a slim, red GTI line that’s a throwback design element from the Mk1 line-up. And, of course, no VW Golf GTI for sale would be complete without its hatchback. The overall result is a leaner and meaner version of the Golf GTI drivers have come to know and love.

On the interior, the Golf GTI leans into the future-forward concept, and it’s just as much fashion as it is function. The GTI’s Digital Cockpit Pro display is pure eye candy, replacing the assortment of buttons and knobs with intuitive touch-responsive menus. The seat cloth fabric is a new design called Scalepaper, which almost feels like the Volkswagen take on the classic Burberry print. To round out the vibe, the interior can be illuminated with a spectrum of 30 configurable colors and has several pre-loaded “mood lighting” modes to choose from. This is a car that’s both equally impressive inside and out.

Sophisticated and Yet So Powerful…

The all-new Volkswagen Golf GTI runs on a 2.0L turbocharged direct-injection TSI engine that can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG dual clutch automatic transmission. This makes it the most powerful iteration of the Golf GTI released to date. This hot hatch VW boasts 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque, which means you’ll have plenty of power under the hood. Drivers are already posting glowing reviews about how the VW GTI takes even the tightest of turns with minimal effort and none of the understeering issues seen in similar compact vehicles.

The VW also comes packed with a full suite of driver assistance features with IQ.DRIVE. They include Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance); Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Monitoring); Active Blind Spot Monitor; Rear Traffic Alert; Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC); Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System); and Emergency Assist (semi-automated vehicle assistance in a medical emergency, DSG only). High Beam Control (Light Assist), the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), Park Assist with Park Distance Control, and Dynamic Road Sign Display are also available.
