A First Look at the 2023 VW Tiguan - A Top Safety Pick+ Award Winner

Lithe Handling, Versatile Seating, and Excellent Fuel Economy - What’s Not to Love? Volkswagen cars have always been at the forefront of advances, so when there’s a new Volkswagen for sale, aficionados flock to see what the latest version brings to the table. It seems that, in 2023, the Volkswagen Tiguan will be one of the most popular new cars for sale in Houston, TX. Let’s look at what you can expect from the new Tiguan at our new car dealership. What’s New for the 2023 VW Tiguan? The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan comes off the back of a considerable refresh in 2022, so, understandably, there aren’t many changes in the 2023 model. The vehicle’s USB-C ports see an upgrade to support 45W charging, and the SE R-Line Black trim gets a new set of 19-inch rims. The mid-range SE trim has always offered the best mixture of value and features. It is even more bang for the buck in 2023 with a power-operated rear liftgate, lane-keeping assist, 18-inch wheels, and a fantastic semi-autonomous driving model. You can now get a panoramic sunroof on the SE as an optional extra, which we highly recommend. 2023 VW Tiguan Overview The Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact crossover that stands out from the pack. It’s got great handling, too, while delivering excellent fuel efficiency from its standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The option of a third row of seats is rare for the compact crossover category, and the VW Tiguan makes great use of the third row without compromising on cargo space. The Tiguan’s interior is sedate, focusing on functionality over style statements - a hallmark of VW cars. There’s up to 12 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row of seats, and with the seats folded down, the Tiguan has more than the average space for its class. The comfortable cabin is decked out with all mod cons, such as a standard Wi-Fi hotspot and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. We particularly like the nine-speaker 480-watt Fender audio system you can choose on higher trims, and the 10.3-inch digital gauge display has much customizability so you can set it up just how you like it. The car itself is no slouch. It’s enjoyable to drive, with responsive handling and just enough power to get you exactly where you want to go. New VW Tiguan Performance A 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine with 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque powers the 2023 Tiguan, and you have eight-speed automatic transmissions paired with both front- and all-wheel-drive powertrains. The Tiguan SE R-Line goes from a stop to 60 mph in about eight seconds. Test drivers at our Volkswagen Clear Lake dealership find the Tiguan to offer particularly responsive handling and excellent road feel, making it a fun and engaging vehicle to drive. The VW Tiguan Goes High Tech The base S variant of the 2023 Tiguan already has heated front seats, keyless entry, automatic LED headlights, and LED taillights standard. A 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, and an 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster display are also included. Remote start, an eight-way power driver's seat, and a power liftgate are standard on the 2023 Tiguan SE. Its center touchscreen expands to 8.0 inches in size, wireless phone charging is introduced, and App-Connect, which has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, switches from wired to wireless - a convenience that’s totally worth the trim upgrade. With the top-tier SEL R-Line, you’ll get a hands-free power liftgate and receive standard power-folding side mirrors with puddle lights and a light bar in the front grille. You also get heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Safety Features on this New Volkswagen For Sale The Tiguan S basic model's active safety features begin with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. On top of this, the SE model immediately above it gets adaptive cruise control and a lane-keeping system. The top-of-the-line SEL R-Line model has semi-autonomous parking assistance, adaptive headlights, a bird's-eye 360-degree vision video system, traffic sign recognition, and parking sensors as standard. This makes the Tiguan SEL R-Line one of the safest cars to drive. Test Drive the Tiguan at Our Houston New Car Dealership The 2023 VW Tiguan is destined to keep the compact crossover at the top of its class for another year. For more information on the new Volkswagen cars line-up, the various model and trim options, and to reserve your very own 2023 VW Tiguan, contact Volkswagen Clear Lake in Houston, TX, today.

VW Makes Canadian Deal to Build EV Batteries in North America

What This Means for the Lineup of Volkswagen Electric Vehicles There are a few big advantages to purchasing an electric vehicle. First, it ensures that you never have to deal with the gas pumps ever again. During a time in which gas prices are extremely volatile and inflation is at a 40-year high, that is welcome news. You can put that money back towards your monthly grocery and bill budget. Another big advantage of new electric cars is that you can usually get a tax credit on the purchase. To bring you up to speed, the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 passed by the Biden administration offered a tax credit up to $7,500 based on the vehicle’s traction battery capacity and the gross vehicle weight rating. However, that was for all vehicle purchases before August 17th, 2022. Things will be different moving forward. How the Tax Credit on Electric Vehicles Will Work The tax credit on new electric cars is scheduled to change after December 31st, 2022. It will be broken up into two separate credits. Electric vehicles that meet the critical mineral requirements are eligible for a $3,750 tax credit. Electric vehicles that meet the battery component requirements are eligible for a $3,750 tax credit. Electric vehicles that meet both requirements are eligible for a $7,500 tax credit. However, to be eligible for the critical mineral and battery components tax credits, the manufacturing and assembly of electric vehicle batteries must primarily be done on North American soil. As it stands, a VW electric car for sale would not qualify for these tax credits because they are manufactured in Europe. The Canadian Deal and Tennessee-based VW Plant Considering the importance of this electric vehicle tax credit eligibility, VW has made some crafty maneuvers as of late to ensure their customers will qualify for it. First, Volkswagen has signed what is called a memorandum of understanding with the Canadian government to officially begin talks about bringing some of their electric vehicle battery manufacturing to their mineral-rich country. It is believed VW will be able to secure access to lithium, cobalt, and nickel, which are all vital to the operation. Although it's not confirmed yet, experts believe that VW plans to build a dedicated Gigafactory in Canada to manufacture electric vehicle batteries. The other critical piece of news about how VW plans to manufacture its ID.4 electric vehicle lies in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Pablo Di Si, the new president and CEO of the VW Group of America, is estimating that 90,000 electric vehicles will be manufactured domestically in 2023. According to him, the VW ID.4 is expected to qualify for the full $7,500 U.S. tax credit. How to Test Drive the VW ID.4 Although the VW ID.4 doesn't qualify for the federal tax credit yet, its starting MSRP of under $38,000 makes it well worth checking out. Compared to other auto manufacturers who have been dominating the electric vehicle space, its current price tag is more than competitive. The VW ID.4 is also a top performer in its class, able to drive up to 275 miles on the single charge (Pro model) while providing all the power and handling one would expect from an SUV. It's also worth mentioning that the VW ID.4 was the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year Award and was recently named one of Wards Best User Experiences. We have a VW ID.4 right here on the lot at VW Clear Lake that you can test drive. You can also build and reserve a VW ID.4 of your very own so that you can get the trim level and optional features that you want. This is the best way to get a VW electric car for sale that perfectly matches what you want. Looking for New and Used Cars? vw elli partnership

VW Becomes Partners with Elli to Provide Drivers with a Better Charging Experience

What This Partnership Means for the Future of VW Electric Vehicles For most automobile buyers, switching over to an electric vehicle means one thing – they’ll never have to use a gas pump ever again. That on its own is enough to make anyone seriously consider transitioning over to an EV. For those that are heavy commuters, it could mean potentially saving hundreds of dollars a month on gasoline. However, switching over to an electric vehicle does mean you will have to get into the routine of charging. The first thing that you need to know is that charging an electric vehicle isn't free. According to Investopedia, it will cost somewhere between $10 and $30 to charge your electric vehicle, which is significantly lower than the going rate on a tank of gas. How much it costs to charge your vehicle depends on the type of charger you're using, the region of the country you're in, and other factors. For instance, commercial charging rates are often double what residential rates are. Another thing to keep in mind is that you will pay a premium for charging speed. DC Fast Charging – the highest level of charging – can fully replenish a batter in under an hour, but it also costs the most to use. The Current State of Electric Vehicle Charging As more and more people switch over to electric vehicles, the general population will get more adept at understanding how vehicle charging works, the pricing, and how to work it into their busy schedules. The singular advantage that gasoline powered vehicles have over electric is they take only minutes to refuel. Long-term, the goal is to make electric vehicle charging faster, cheaper, and more efficient. Another goal is to make electric vehicle charging easier and more convenient for drivers. This means supporting the expansion of electric vehicle charging stations through infrastructure investments. Electric vehicle charging stations need to be as numerous as gas stations if we intend to make a large-scale conversion over to EV. Another thing that's being worked on is investing in the nation's power grid to ensure that it can handle charging several thousand electric vehicles. The Biden administration has been quite vocal in supporting this measure as a means to reduce our carbon footprint. The Volkswagen Group has also been actively working to make electric vehicle charging more accessible and user-friendly to support its planned release of several EVs. The VW Partnership with Elli The Elia Group along with its startup company re.alto signed a memorandum of understanding with Elli, which is a subsidiary of VW that manages all activities relative to energy and charging for the VW Group in Europe. Each of the parties involved believes that electric vehicle integration is the future of the power grid by aiding its stabilization. This will be made possible because electric vehicle batteries are able to store electricity, which means it’s possible to put electricity back into the grid when it’s needed most. Elke Temme, CEO of Elli and Senior Vice President of Charging & Energy at Volkswagen AG, said, “An essential key to achieving climate neutrality lies in linking the energy and mobility sectors. Using the electric vehicle battery as a mobile power bank delivers a triple benefit: Firstly, the climate benefits as renewable energy can be stored and therefore be used more efficiently; secondly, the electric grid benefits, as the car can contribute toward grid stability; and thirdly, the customer can earn additional revenue with vehicle-to-grid services.” In this joint venture, the companies will focus on four main areas, which include: Creating incentives for electric vehicle owners Creating a market that works for everyone Creating a way to securely send data Ensuring that data collected is secure and used responsibly The cooperation between the electricity and mobility sectors with partnerships between companies like VW and Elli are projected to be more commonplace as the electric vehicle market continues to expand and more drivers make the switch. Finding the Perfect VW Electric Car for Sale Near You in Houston Now that you know more about the planned expansion for the electric vehicle market and how it will affect the grid, the next step is for you to check out an electric vehicle for yourself. And if you're going to check out an EV, then it might as well be the best. The Volkswagen ID.4 was the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year Award and was recently named one of Wards Best User Experiences. In addition to its future-forward design and loaded feature package, this SUV can get up to 275 miles on a single charge (Pro model). It's certifiably one of the most sought after new electric cars on the market. The best way to check it out is by paying us a visit here at VW Clear Lake. Getting to Know the ID.AERO, the First All-Electric Sedan from VW

What We Know So Far About This Forthcoming Electric Vehicle For those of you just tuning in, Volkswagen has made some amazing strides in the electric vehicle market. The VW ID.4 – the first foray into the EV space by VW – was the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year Award and was named one of Wards Best User Experiences. This future-forward EV can drive up to 275 miles on a single charge (Pro model) and offers drivers all the hallmarks of the classic SUV experience. Of course, the plan was always to expand the electric vehicle line. VW has gone on record several times stating that EVs are going to make up a large percentage of their offering moving forward. The VW ID.4 was just the beginning. Coming down the pipe in the near future are the VW ID.LIFE, the VW ID.Buzz, and the VW ID.AERO, which will be the first EV sedan from Volkswagen. The VW ID.AERO – What We Know So Far The VW ID.AERO is still in the concept phase at the moment, which means nothing is set in stone just yet. However, it is far enough along in the development process that we're fairly certain this vehicle will go into production. According to press releases from VW, the ID.AERO will initially release in Europe sometime in 2023. A recent article from Car and Driver estimates that a global release of the ID.AERO will occur in 2024. Of course, these dates are educated guesses; the release may be moved depending on the automaker’s ability to secure battery materials and semiconductor chips. VW is currently in formal talks with government officials to source battery materials in Canada. If everything goes well, this should allow the automaker to ramp up production on all electric vehicles in its EV offering. “With the ID.AERO show car, we are revealing a preview of the next member of the ID. family. A car with an emotional and at the same time extremely aerodynamic design, a range of over 600 kilometers, an extraordinary amount of space and a premium interior,” says Ralf Brandstätter, Chief Executive Officer of Volkswagen Passenger Cars. When the ID.AERO is finally released, drivers should expect a futuristic take on the mid-size sedan with a range of at least 350 miles on a single charge. In fact, the range may exceed that considering that VW has at least a year or so to advance their battery technology. The fully electric four-door is incredibly stylish and aerodynamic, according to the few images that we’ve seen so far from the automaker. Although no shots have gone public for the interior, VW has a penchant for releasing sedans with generous cabin space. Drivers should also expect a cornucopia of safety and infotainment features along with some new features that are only being showcased on 2023 models. One such feature is the ID.Light, which is the VW version of the Alexa voice assistant. It can be used to adjust the temperature, open the moonroof, and plenty of other simple commands. Consistent with the ID.4 and the ID.Buzz, the ID.AERO will also utilize the modular electric drive matrix (MEB), which permits for a long wheelbase and short overhangs. MEB also allows for additional battery modules to be added onto the vehicle at a later date, which means drivers may get even more range in the future. One final area of interest is the starting MSRP. VW electric cars for sale have generally undercut the other major competitors in the EV space. According to Car and Driver, they estimate the entry-level ID.AERO will retail for approximately $35,000 with the top tier trim level coming in around $47,000. It’s also worth noting that there may be a tax credit that buyers can take advantage of on their purchase. Looking For an Electric Vehicle? Visit VW Clear Lake, Your Local Volkswagen Dealer! volkswagen taos

Meet the New 2023 Volkswagen Taos

Getting to Know This Speedy Subcompact SUV There's so much to love about the 2022 Volkswagen Taos. Drivers enjoy its agile and nimble driving style. The subcompact build delivers all the main hallmarks of an SUV without feeling heavy or sluggish. The VW Taos also gave drivers a reason not to be afraid of the gas pumps anymore. Clocking in at an estimated 28 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway, the Taos was the saving grace for many drivers on a budget. And speaking of budget, the Volkswagen Taos is one of the most competitively priced SUVs on the market. With a starting MSRP under $25,000, drivers can finally get a reliable SUV for a price they can afford. Tack on an amazing safety and infotainment feature package and an industry leading warranty, and you can see why both drivers and reviewers alike love the VW Taos. So, what can be expected with the 2023 version? Let’s break down! 2023 Volkswagen Taos Main Specs The entry-level VW Taos will come with a 1.5T TSI 8-speed automatic engine that yields 184 lb-ft. of torque and 158 horsepower. However, drivers who opt for the highest trim level (SEL) will get a 1.5T TSI 7-speed DSG engine with 4MOTION, which is the souped-up version of all wheel drive. 4MOTION sends the majority of the vehicle’s power to the front axle, giving them the handling of a front-wheel drive vehicle while maintaining the traction of an AWD vehicle. It’s perfect for slick surface driving. Two things that will be remaining the exact same on the VW Taos are the gas mileage and cargo space. Drivers of the newest version can count on getting an estimated 28 mpg city/36 mpg highway just like the 2022 model. Additionally, the max cargo space of 65.9 cubic feet (with seats folded down) will remain consistent. 2023 Volkswagen Taos Features The previous model of the Taos was well regarded for its generous feature package, and the 2023 will stick to that winning formula. Drivers of the VW Taos SEL trim can expect the following features to be included: 8" touchscreen navigation & AM/FM/HD Radio Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro: 10.25" configurable digital instrument display Wireless charging (for compatible devices) App-Connect® smartphone integration (for compatible devices) via wireless & USB BeatsAudio® SiriusXM® (3-month trial subscription; requires acceptance of Terms) Dynamic Road Sign Display Keyless access with push-button start Park Distance Control, front Remote engine start Climatronic® Touch dual-zone automatic climate control w/ advanced air filter Ambient interior lighting Auto-dimming interior rear view mirror Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) w/ dynamic cornering lights Heated washer nozzles Rain-sensing, variable intermittent front wipers Heated, foldable, power adjustable side mirrors Integrated light bar in front grille Power tilting & sliding panoramic sunroof 8-way power adjustable driver seat with lumbar, 6-way manually adjustable passenger seat Heated and ventilated front seats Illuminated, carpeted cargo area w/ 12V power port Leatherette-wrapped, heated multi-function steering wheel Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning & Autonomous Emergency Braking w/ Pedestrian Monitoring) Travel Assist, Lane Assist, & Emergency Assist Anti-theft alarm system w/ engine immobilizer Carefree Coverage by Volkswagen No new vehicle purchase would be complete without an amazing warranty included to protect you and the vehicle. tailgating foods laid out on a table

Plan on Tailgating in Your VW SUV? Here is Your List of Game Day Essentials

What to Bring for a Fun Afternoon at NRG Stadium in Your Volkswagen SUV Football is back and you know what that means: countless hours sunk into getting your fantasy line-up just right and trying to win the weekly office pool. More importantly, it means afternoon tailgating at NRG stadium. Although we’ll forever have to live with having a tie on our record to kick off the season (seriously, there needs to be a rule change for that), you don’t have to live with subpar tailgating when you hit the lot in your VW SUV this fall. Those who have been keeping track of new cars for sale in Houston already know that Volkswagen has a superior lineup of subcompact to full-sized SUVs. However, to bring your Volkswagen SUV up to stadium-ready status, you're going to need a little help in the tailgating supplies department. Here are our top five can't miss picks: #1 – A Really Good Grill Although the folks in Kansas City and Memphis may disagree, we truly do BBQ better out here in the great state of Texas. Take your tailgating up a notch by bringing out your finest meats and portable grill in any of the spacious Volkswagen SUVs. Don’t forget to pack up coals, seasoning, and BBQ utensils. #2 – The Ultimate Cooler You're not tailgating properly unless you have beverages...lots and lots of beverages. Do yourself a favor and go with a reinforced cooler that offers lots of storage capacity. 70 quarts or more is usually enough to handle all the beverages, ice, and meats that you're taking out to the stadium. Save yourself some back pain and go with a cooler with wheels; it'll make moving it around much easier. #3 – Pop-Up Canopy Tent You know how it is in Texas – we have to be ready for anything, and that includes inclement weather. One week we’ll get hit with sun and heat and a week later the temperature will dip down and turn rainy and miserable. Best be prepared for anything with your own personal pop-up canopy tent. This gives you and your crew some much needed coverage should the weather turn sour out at NRG stadium. Make sure to go with the Volkswagen SUV that has enough cargo space to hold your tent; the VW Atlas provides the most room with up to 96.8 cubic ft. #4 – Superior Speaker Everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes the crowd noise. It can get rowdy and loud out in the parking lot of NRG Stadium, so you're going to need a superior speaker that can compete with the noise. Go with a portable speaker that can pair wirelessly with your phone via Bluetooth. You can place the speaker in the back of your VW SUV and control the playlist conveniently from your phone. #5 – Dining Essentials Not everyone likes to stand and eat, so do your fellow tailgaters and yourself a favor by bringing out some dining essentials in the back of your Volkswagen SUV. This includes a sturdy folding table, chairs, along with napkins, plates, and cutlery. You don’t want to walk into NRG stadium with BBQ sauce all over your fingers. Check Out a Brand-New VW SUV to Get Ready for Kick-Off Now that you've got a list of the tailgating essentials that you'll need for the next Texans game, the next step is to find the perfect Volkswagen SUV for you and your crew. Getting the Most Out of Your Volkswagen Test Driving Appointment

Planning on Test Driving a VW Car or SUV? Follow This Helpful Checklist Nothing is more exciting than test driving a brand-new VW car or SUV. In fact, it can be so exciting that it can be easy to overlook a lot of items that are important to you in the heat of the moment. The last thing that we want is for you to leave our dealership having forgotten to ask about trim level, feature packages, or other items regarding the new Volkswagen for sale you have your eye on. To help you get the most out of your visit to our new car dealership here at VW Clear Lake, we've come up with a checklist of best practices to use when shopping for Volkswagen cars. The next time that you're shopping for new cars for sale in Houston, you will be totally prepared. #1 – Make Your List of “Must-Have” Items Everybody has slightly different priorities when it comes to shopping for new cars. For instance, some people have especially long commutes to work, and so fuel economy ranks at the top of the list. Other folks may have a huge family they need a cart around, and so seating and storage capacity are king in their book. When considering a new Volkswagen for sale, think about those one or two “must-have” items that have to be included with the vehicle. Not only does this help narrow down the selection, but it also saves time because our sales associates won't show you anything that doesn't meet your needs. #2 – Test Drive the Car Like You Already Own It Just because you're test driving a vehicle doesn't mean you have to scale back on your driving style like it’s a driver’s ed exam. Drive the vehicle how you would normally drive it. If you would normally get a good amount of acceleration for a highway merge – do it. If you want to test the integrity of the brakes with a hard stop – by all means – give it a go (but do it safely, of course). Getting the most out of your test drive means driving the vehicle like you already own it. Test out the acceleration and deceleration. Take the vehicle through a few challenging turns. Get a feel for the suspension and handling. If there's a possibility that you're going to put down hard earned money on a vehicle purchase, don't be afraid to take it through the paces. #3 – Get to Know All the Features Test drivers of new VW cars can get so wrapped up in the driving and handling of the vehicle that they sometimes forget about one of the most fun aspects – the features. Volkswagen cars have long been a leader in providing the most advanced safety, convenience, and infotainment features. Some of our top features include: Apple CarPlay/Android Auto Adaptive Cruise Control Backup Camera Blind Spot Monitor Bluetooth Forward Collision Warning Hands-Free Liftgate Heated Seats and Steering Wheel Future-Forward Interior Accents Keyless Entry Advanced Navigation System Rain-Sensing Wipers Even standard Volkswagen cars come generously loaded with features. Need a walkthrough? Just ask your VW sales associate to hit all the highlights. #4 – Ask About the Warranty Don’t let all the excitement of driving a new Volkswagen for sale make you lose sight of one very important detail – the warranty. If you’re planning on buying a new VW car, you’ll want to be sure that it’s covered for things like accidents and routine maintenance. Fortunately, Volkswagen has one of the automotive industry's leading warranties – Carefree Coverage. It breaks down as follows: 2 yrs. Service - Scheduled Carefree Maintenance (2 years or 20,000 miles) 3 yrs. Help - Roadside Assistance (3 years or 36,000 miles) 4 yrs. Coverage - New Vehicle Limited Warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles) 5 yrs. Access - myVW Remote Access When you visit the service center for maintenance or repairs on your VW car, Carefree Coverage will appear in your records, making the process simple and easy. It’s also worth mentioning that this coverage comes included on every model of new Volkswagens for sale. Let’s Get You Behind the Wheel of VW Car or SUV Now that you know how to get the most out of your Volkswagen driving appointment, the next step is to visit our new car dealership here at VW Clear Lake. A Historic Look Back at the VW Golf GTI

And Where to Find a Speedy Volkswagen for Sale at a VW Dealership Near You When you think of legendary Volkswagen vehicles, the VW Beetle and its subsequent re-release come to mind. You think of the VW Type 2 Microbus that was a huge hit in the 70s. And, of course, you think of the Volkswagen Golf GTI. Since its release in the 1970s, this small and speedy hatchback has been making a name for itself as one of the most agile and quickest vehicles in the entire Volkswagen catalog. It currently sits at the top of the heap as one of the most sought-after new cars for sale in Houston, not to mention several other new car dealerships across the nation. However, just like any great automobile, the VW Golf GTI comes from humble beginnings and was limited by the technology of its time. Let’s take a look back and see just how much this vehicle has advanced through the decades. 1976 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 1) The history of the VW Golf GTI kicks off in the mid 1970s. It was released onto the automobile market using a 1.6L inline-four engine that provided drivers with 110 horsepower and speeds up to 110 mph. If you put it up against an entry-level Porsche, the original VW Golf GTI could smoke it. This got the ball rolling on building the GTI’s legendary status. 1985 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 2) No sophomore slump here. The second iteration of the Volkswagen Golf GTI maintained much of its design scheme. However, it was given a significant boost in the performance department. In terms of horsepower, the Mk2 improved to 137 HP using a 16-valve version engine. 1991 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 3) To round out the original trilogy of the VW Golf GTI, designers made some changes to the vehicle to make it sleeker to shake off those 1980s vibes. More importantly, the engine got a much-needed upgrade. The Mk3 ran on a 2.0L inline-four that provided drivers with 115 lb-ft. of horsepower. 1997 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 4) The fourth iteration of the VW Golf GTI was a huge hit, especially in Europe, where it became the best-selling vehicle in 2001. The length of the car and the wheelbase expanded slightly. Engineers also beefed up a weight a good 200 pounds. Drivers and reviewers alike often compared it to vehicles in the BMW lineup. The Mk4 was initially offered with two engine options: a 2.0L 4-cylinder and a 2.8L narrow-angle VR6 that yielded up to 174 horsepower. 2004 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 5) After a seven-year slumber, the VW Golf GTI finally hit the market again with the all-new Mk5. Considering that this was the first Golf GTI of the new millennium, people could tell that VW designers and engineers were really trying to make an impression with this one. It was the first VW Golf GTI to offer a 6-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), which drivers and reviewers fell in love with immediately. It also had a top speed of 146 mph. For its time, this little hatchback had some serious zip. 2009 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 6) The wait for the next VW Golf GTI wasn't nearly as long as the last time. In 2009, the VW Golf GTI Mk6 officially hit the market. One notable fact is that the chassis development was supervised by German racing legend, Hans-Joachim Stuck. With a name like that attached to the project, expectations were considerably high. Of course, in traditional VW fashion, this new Golf GTI more than rose to the occasion with a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine that yielded 210 horsepower in international markets (200 in the U.S.). It's also worth mentioning that this iteration of the VW Golf GTI had some noticeable design upgrades. Included on this vehicle was the new honeycomb grill as well as the dual exhaust at the corners of the rear bumper, two elements that would carry on through subsequent iterations of the vehicle. 2013 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 7) Lucky number Mark 7 hit the market just four years after the Mk6. For the first time in the illustrious history of the VW Golf GTI, this one was lighter in curb weight compared to its predecessors. Additionally, VW designers and engineers took the liberty of making some structural improvements to strengthen its build and improve its handling and performance. With the performance package model, the VW Golf GTI Mk7 could get up to 230 horsepower and hit 60 mph in just 6.4 seconds. VW got some serious mileage out of the Mk7. It would go on to have several different facelifts and variants released during its reign as one of the speediest compact vehicles on the market. 2021 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 8) The Mk8 iteration of the Volkswagen Golf GTI is the current day compact of the age, available at a VW dealership near you. For the first time in its history, this hatchback is finally offered in a four-door variety, making it easier for passengers to get in and out of this speedy vehicle. Considering that the last VW Golf GTI was released in 2013, VW engineers and designers pulled out all the stops when it came to giving the GTI a complete makeover in performance and design. Out of all the GTIs we've talked about, the Mk8 is definitely the most intimidating of them all. It also yields the highest performance with 241 horsepower and 273 pound feet of torque. Not many vehicles on the road can outperform the Mark 8. You can find this Volkswagen for sale at VW Clear Lake. Ready to Drive the VW Golf GTI? Head to a Volkswagen Dealer Near You! Buying a New Car? Here Are the Top Features to Look For

Finding the Perfect Feature-Packed Vehicle at Your Local Volkswagen Dealer Everybody does their car shopping a little bit differently. For instance, some people are set on buying a car that is a certain body type. It's not uncommon for a customer to come in and tell us they want to see SUVs, and only SUVs. Other customers come in highly flexible with the type of cars that they want to be shown; however, they are locked into a certain price range. And with gas prices having reached record highs, we are now getting more customers than ever who have fuel economy as a top priority. In fact, many customers who wouldn't be caught in an electric vehicle two years ago are suddenly changing their tune. This is a big part of the reason our EV, the VW ID.4 has been selling like hotcakes. As the leading Volkswagen dealer here in Houston, we have first-hand experience working with customers who have those one or two “make it or break it” items in mind. Price, warranty, power, storage, seating capacity, fuel economy, and towing capacity are usually the frontrunners. However, we would be doing our customers a disservice if we didn't showcase the many features of a Volkswagen for sale. Whether you're at a new car dealership or shopping for a used car, the features are what ultimately round out the driving experience, not to mention keep you safe. Let's break down some of the most popular ones to look for the next time you’re at your local Volkswagen dealer in Houston or a VW dealership near you. #1 - Adjustable Ambient Lighting There are two main things that VW engineers and designers keep in mind when they're building out VW vehicles: how it drives and how it feels. Of course, things like horsepower, torque, and fuel economy directly contribute to both. However, some things are purely based on aesthetics. One notable feature that really sets the tone of the vehicle is adjustable ambient lighting. Made famous during the 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI release, adjustable ambient lighting allows drivers to fully customize the interior mood of the vehicle. Drivers will have access to a luminescent scale of 30 different colors that elevate the VW driving experience. #2 – VW Voice Recognition With the introduction and evolution of voice assistants like Siri, Bixby, and Amazon Alexa, it seems like voice assistants are virtually everywhere these days. Naturally, this begs the question: “Why not put voice recognition in a VW vehicle?” Well, we did! The beauty of having voice recognition in the VW vehicle is that it adds convenience and makes the driving experience safer overall. For instance, no longer will you have to fumble around with your cell phone or with any buttons when an incoming call comes through. You can simply direct your vehicle to either take or decline the call using nothing but your voice. This keeps your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. Additionally, voice recognition allows drivers to change the radio station, start the vehicle, and ask for directions while driving. Look forward to this feature being rolled out on all future VW vehicles. #3 – Adaptive Cruise Control We all know how old-fashioned cruise control works. You hit the gas, set your speed, and let your vehicle cruise along the highway. Unless, of course, the vehicle in front of you slows down. Then you need to hit the brakes and adjust. It's kind of a pain in the neck if you are on a busy highway or behind someone who can't decide on what speed they want to go. This is exactly where adaptive cruise control comes in, courtesy of the engineers at VW. Adaptive cruise control is exactly like regular cruise control, but if the car in front of you slows down your vehicle will automatically adjust its speed to slow down with it. This makes highway driving much easier and safer. Look for this feature on any new Volkswagen for sale at a VW dealership near you. Trying to Find the Closest VW Dealership Near You? Which Volkswagen SUV Is Right for You? Making the Comparison

Finding the Perfect Volkswagen for Sale at a VW Dealership Near You in Houston You can’t go wrong with a Volkswagen SUV. That much has been proven over the years. If you still need convincing, you can reference the many awards and industry-leading ratings VW has racked up. Better yet, ask the person you know with a Volkswagen SUV. We know you know one… Back? Great! We knew you would be. Now for the real dilemma – narrowing your selection down to one choice. We’ll talk about many options, but the VW Atlas and VW Atlas Cross Sport are all the rage right now at new car dealerships. So, what should you expect when you visit your local Volkswagen dealer here at VW Clear Lake in Houston? And how do the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport Volkswagen SUVs measure up against one another? Let’s break this down. Volkswagen Atlas SUV The 2022 Atlas redefines what a spacious car looks like. Gone are the days of having to choose between space and style. The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas combines the two gracefully. It offers drivers up to 96.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity and can accommodate up to 7 passengers. Of course, the Atlas wouldn’t be a Volkswagen SUV worth bragging about without superior performance and safety features. Whether you go with the V6 or the 4-cylinder, you will appreciate the power of the Atlas. Additionally, the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System helps slow the vehicle down after impact in hopes of reducing additional collisions. The Volkswagen Atlas boasts other notable features including: IQ.Drive 4Motion with Active Control VW Digital Cockpit Fender Premium Audio System App-Connect myVW Ready to test drive the VW Atlas? Reducing the max storage down to 77.8 cubic ft. paves way to a much more modern and sporty design that you can expand on with an R-Line package. In VW SUV fashion, this design still boasts the power, performance, and safety of the Atlas. Drivers will get up to 266 ft-lb. of torque, 276 horsepower, and a fantastic fuel economy of 21 mpg city/25 mpg highway. Volkswagen Group Joins IRMA. What Does It Mean?

Our Commitment to Responsible Supply Chain Sourcing and Workers’ Health and Safety Last year, Volkswagen released its very first all-electric vehicle known as the VW ID.4. It is arguably one of the most exciting and best reviewed vehicles that Volkswagen has ever produced. In fact, the VW ID.4 was the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year Award, besting EV and non-electric vehicles alike. The VW ID.4 has a starting MSRP of $41,230 ( as low as $33,730 after potential federal tax credit), which makes it one of the most affordable electric vehicles on the market. It can also drive up to 280 miles on a single charge (ID.4 Pro edition), which should be more than enough range to get you through the work week. However, now that VW is in the electric vehicle space, that means sourcing materials for one of the most vital parts of the ID.4 – the battery. If Volkswagen is to remain a key player in the EV space, then they need to be able to responsibly source lithium, cobalt, nickel, and graphite to create batteries. Fortunately, the Volkswagen Group made a major move back in March 2022 by joining the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA). What is IRMA? In the world of mining and sourcing raw materials, IRMA is the initiative that ensures it is being done in a socially and environmentally responsible way. Their mission is to protect the people in the mining industry while also keeping the environmental impact of mining down to an absolute minimum. IRMA’s board members consist of individuals from the mining industry, purchasers of raw materials, non-governmental organizations, affected communities, organized labor officials, and investors. Collectively, IRMA sets the standard for responsible mining that considers business integrity, planning and managing for positive legacies, and social and environmental responsibility. IRMA currently has more than 50 members, including the Volkswagen Group, all working to leverage their global reach toward responsible mining practices. What Does Volkswagen Joining IRMA Mean? As previously mentioned, the VW ID.4 is the first EV vehicle offered from Volkswagen; however, it’s the first of many. The German automaker has a few electric vehicles in the development queue. What this tells us is that the plan to offer climate-neutral mobility is still on the horizon for VW. However, there’s a right and wrong way to go about this when it comes to sourcing raw materials. With VW formally joining IRMA, it demonstrates they want to go about their sourcing for current and future electric vehicles the right way. Sustainable supply chains start in the mine, so IRMA members rely on clear standards and best practices among raw material suppliers, buyers, workers, and investors. By joining, the Volkswagen Group has made the commitment to applying the IRMA standards to its battery supply chains. For you, it means that you can confidently shop for a VW EV, knowing that Volkswagen is working to protect the environment. How to Test Drive the VW ID.4 at Your Local Volkswagen Dealer Now that you know a little more about the Volkswagen ID.4 and how its parts are sourced, the next step is for you to get behind the wheel of one so you can test drive it for yourself. We can guarantee you that it more than lives up to the hype. To get started, visit the Volkswagen ID.4 page of our website and click on the “Build & Reserve Your ID.4” button. This allows you to select the trim level and optional features you want for your ID.4. We will contact you once it arrives at the VW Clear Lake dealership so you can come down and test drive it. If you decide the VW ID.4 is not for you – no worries – we can sell it to the next interested buyer. Or, you can purchase it and drive off in an incredible electric vehicle powered by German engineering. Looking For a VW Dealership Near You? Visit Us at VW Clear Lake!
