Breaking Down Which Volkswagen Parents Love

It’s back-to-school season, so you know what that means. Morning and afternoon carpools with the kids, football and cheer practice, and all manner of packing books, bags, lunches, and school projects into the car. And if it’s one thing that parents can agree on when it comes to kids, most of them need plenty of space with at least one or two ways to stay entertained. When you’re a parent, there’s rarely a quiet and uneventful trip in the car. So how do you go about finding the perfect vehicle that is going to accommodate everything a parent needs while also keeping your little ones happy?

Allow us to put on our big red cape and most heroic smile. It’s Volkswagen coming to the rescue!

Go Big or Go Home

Parents that have two or more school-aged children in the car are never guaranteed a quiet trip. Quite the opposite, actually. Kids put into close quarters in the car will bicker, fight, and make a commotion if they feel like they’re having their personal space bubble popped. The smaller the car, the more likely this is to happen.

So, what’s the solution? Go big, of course. Like, really REALLY big. And the only SUV that’s big enough for the job is the VW Atlas.

This three-row SUV easily seats up to seven passengers, which means it’s roomy on the inside like a minivan (154 cubic ft. of interior space), but it packs a ton of power under the hood. The 8-speed automatic 2.0L Turbo engine (also available as a 3.6L V6) offers drivers 235 horsepower with 258 Lb-ft. of torque. Even if you’re using the Atlas as a kid-friendly commuter, it has more power and speed than their favorite superhero.

Sizeable AND Safe

The Atlas is built to be one of the safest SUVs in its class. Since we know you’re going to be driving around with precious cargo, the Atlas is packed with virtually every safety feature under the sun. From its Intelligent Crash Response System to a myriad of strategically placed airbags, the Atlas provides drivers with all the security they’ll ever need to venture confidently into morning rush hour traffic. It contains all the following safety features

  • Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution, and Hydraulic Brake Assist
  • Crash-optimized front end
  • Driver and front passenger, front and side thorax airbag supplemental restraint system
  • Electronic Stability Control, Anti-Slip Regulation, Electronic Differential Lock, and Engine Brake Assist
  • Front safety belts, height-adjustable, with pretensioners and load limiters
  • Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS)
  • LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) child seat anchor points
  • Rear View Camera System
  • Side Curtain Protection® head airbags, front and rear
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert
  • Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist)
  • Pedestrian Monitoring (included in Front Assist)

Big Size, Big Entertainment

We all know that kids need to stay entertained while in the car, and the VW Atlas doesn’t fall short in this category, either. As you’d expect, Volkswagen has gone above and beyond to make smartphone pairing easy and seamless. The Atlas features Bluetooth technology along with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto – perfect for streaming your favorite playlists and accessing apps on the 6.5” color display. Everything sounds crystal clear through the Fender Premium Audio System. Add on SiriusXM for the widest selection of audio entertainment, including channels that are just for kids. For teens who have cell phones of their own, the Atlas comes standard with 2 USB-C ports so they can walk into class with a full charge.

Unmatched Warranty and Service Coverage

When you’re commuting with kids, the last thing you want to think about is if your vehicle is going to break down. We don’t want you to stress; we want you to be carefree, which is why the new 2021 VW Atlas comes with Carefree Coverage that consists of the following

2 yrs. Service – Scheduled Carefree Maintenance (2 years or 20,000 miles)
3 yrs. Help – Roadside Assistance (3 years or 36,000 miles)
4 yrs. Coverage – New Vehicle Limited Warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles)
5 yrs. Access – Car-Net Remote Access

The next time you need VW parts or service, you can simply swing by one of our service centers for your routine maintenance or repairs. Our service centers carry a large stock of Volkswagen parts, which means our customers don’t usually have to wait very long to get their cars back.

Test Drive the Award-Winning Volkswagen Atlas

Not only is the VW Atlas tested by parents and loved by kids, it’s also one of the few large-capacity SUVs out there that have won the accolades to back it up. The VW Atlas is the 2021 Cars.com Family Car of the Year (for the second year in a row) and was also named one of the Best Family Cars in 2021 by “Parents Magazine” (for the fourth year in a row). The Atlas is definitely the go-to vehicle for today’s modern American family.

Whether you’re looking for new cars for sale or used cars for sale, your friends at VW Clear Lake have the perfect Volkswagen for you and your family. Many folks that start out searching “used cars near me” wind up taking the all-new 2021 Atlas for a spin and falling in love with it.

To check out the VW Atlas in person, the best thing to do is pay a visit to the VW Clear Lake dealership located at 15100 Gulf Fwy. in Houston, TX. Let your sales associate know you’re interested in seeing the Atlas. Or, you can check out one of the many other kid-friendly vehicles we have out on the lot.

Breaking Down These Two Speedy Compacts

Recently at the Chicago Auto Show, Volkswagen debuted a couple exciting new additions to the VW family. They are the 2022 Mk8 Golf GTI and the 2022 Mk8 Golf R, which are primed to be two hot-sellers when they’re widely released here in the U.S. later in the year. Obviously, the Volkswagen Golf has been a long-standing crowd favorite among VW fans for several years throughout multiple iterations. There’s not a day that goes by at our dealership here at VW Clearlake where someone isn’t inquiring about a VW Golf for sale. It’s fun, it’s speedy, and it has single-handedly made hatchbacks cool again.

Per Hein Schafer, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy, Volkswagen of America, “The previous Golf GTI and Golf R models were widely regarded as the best hot hatches you could buy, but the Mark 8 versions up the ante. Now built in Wolfsburg, the cars have more performance, better handling, more standard equipment and improved tech features, yet minimal price increases.”

So, what are we to expect now that there will be two more Golfs coming down the pipeline with the new Mk8 versions? We’ll break this down for you.

Equal Footing – What is the Same Between the 2022 Golf GTI and Golf R?

Before we delve into what’s different between these two vehicles, let’s talk about what’s the same. The new Mk8 versions are slightly sportier while still carrying those classic hallmarks Golf fans know and love, such as the distinctive C-pillar. Drivers will notice the Mk8 Golf iterations have a new face via the raked hood, new signature LED headlights, and grille lightbar on either side of the updated VW logo.

Both the Golf GTI and the Golf R run on a 2.0L turbocharged direct-injection TSI engine that can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG dual clutch automatic transmission. This makes them two of the most powerful versions of the Golf ever released to date.

Additionally, the wheelbases on the GTI and the R have remained unchanged from the previous Mk7 generation, both sitting at 103.6 inches. As far as exterior dimensions are concerned, the VW GTI and the R are nearly identical. The Golf GTI is 168.8 inches long and 57.6 inches in height. Comparatively, the Golf R is 168.9 inches long and 57.7 inches in height. Both cars are the same exact width at 70.4 inches. On the interior of both Mk8 versions, there is 91.9 cubic ft. of space for passengers, 19.9 cubic ft. of cargo space (34.5 cubic ft. with the seats folded down).

Both the Golf GTI and Golf R feature new electronic architecture that will enable drivers to digitally network their displays and controls for a more comprehensive experience. The Mk8 versions of the Golf include a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro with a gorgeous full-color display. Drivers will be able to see their car’s status, driving data, phone information, album art, driver assistance features, and more. Drivers that have the Discover Pro infotainment system with navigation option will be able to display a full-screen map in the digital cluster on the center display. Features such as lighting, defrost, HVAC, and audio functions are all conveniently controlled in the digital cockpit.

Finally, both the GTI and R models can be upgraded to include the IQ.DRIVE suite of driver assistance features for hands-on semi-automated capability. The system utilizes front and rear radar, a front camera and several ultrasound sensors to collect data from the surrounding area, enabling a full complement of driver assist features: Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance); Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Monitoring); Active Blind Spot Monitor; Rear Traffic Alert; Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC); Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System); and Emergency Assist (semi-automated vehicle assistance in a medical emergency, DSG only). High Beam Control (Light Assist), the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), Park Assist with Park Distance Control, and Dynamic Road Sign Display are also available.

The 2022 Golf GTI and Golf R Price and Performance Differences

Now that you know how the Golf GTI and the Golf R are the same, let’s break down some of the core differences between these two exciting automobiles.

Golf GTI starting MSRP: $29,545; available in S, SE, and Autobahn trim levels
Golf GTI horsepower: 241
Golf GTI torque: 273 Lb-ft.

The 2022 Golf GTI comes standard with the electronically controlled torque-sensing limited-slip VAQ differential. The system offers a variable degree of intervention depending on the actual driving situation and ESC, EDS and XDS+ functions. This allows drivers to avoid steering corruption, as is the case with purely mechanical differentials. The VAQ differential optimizes grip and handling in fast corners, thus enhancing the performance and helping to decrease understeer, a traditional weakness of front-drive cars.

Golf R starting MSRP: $43,645; available in one fully-loaded trim level
Golf R horsepower: 315
Golf R torque: 280 Lb-ft.

The Golf R features a newly designed 4Motion all-wheel-drive system with rear-axle torque vectoring. This serves as the foundation for the updated handling abilities of the Golf R, delivering a new level of performance. The new torque vectoring system in the 2022 Golf R uses a rear differential with two multi-plate clutches that can distribute up to 100% of the rear torque to an individual rear wheel. This system is designed to apportion power between the wheels based on speed, power application, yaw, and other factors. In a typical corner, the system can direct more power to the wheel on the outside of the curve in a matter of milliseconds, reducing the cornering radius.

How to Get the Brand-New 2022 VW Golf

Both Mk8 Golfs won’t be available until later in the year around Q4, so customers will have to wait a little bit in order to test drive them. However, if you simply can’t wait to check out a Golf, we do have the 2021 Volkswagen Golf for sale. To find your nearest dealership, you can either search “VW dealership near me” or head to VW Clear Lake, which is conveniently located at 15100 Gulf Fwy. in Houston. We have used cars for sale and new cars for sale. We also have a VW service center for those of you that need routine maintenance or repairs done.

How VW Helps You Tackle Your Daily Commute and Long-Distance Road Trips

After a rough year in which travel was limited, things are finally returning to normal which means people are back to their daily commutes and planning their summer road trips. Whether you’re caught in bumper-to-bumper gridlock on the highway or speeding along without another car in sight, having a full suite of advanced features are what make car rides enjoyable. If you’ve been searching for terms like “used cars near me” or are looking to upgrade to a brand-new Volkswagen to elevate your driving experience, here is our list of top five features that make VW a top choice for commuters and long-distance drivers.

1.) Fuel Economy

Gas prices are the silent killer when it comes to maintaining an acceptable vehicle budget. Making the monthly car payment along with insurance premiums isn’t cheap, so the less you can spend at the pump, the better. That’s why Volkswagen has always been committed to manufacturing cars that are fun to drive, family-friendly, and great on gas. Many folks in the Houston area keep an eye out for the latest model of VW Jetta for sale because they know it ranks high when it comes to fuel economy. The 2021 model gets up to 30 city/41 highway, which makes it one of the most fuel-efficient cars in its class.

Or, if you want to ditch the pump altogether, you can go all-electric with the brand-new 2021 VW ID.4, which we’re so excited about having now at Volkswagen Clear Lake. Not only will you never have to spend another dollar at the pump again, you’ll be getting one of the best subcompact SUVs in the industry that can drive up to 260 miles on a single charge.

2.) Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

The majority of recent Volkswagen models all feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, which is great news for drivers who spend a ton of time out on the road. By connecting your Apple or Android smartphone to your VW, you can do things like listen to music, send/receive messages, take phone calls, and get turn-by-turn directions. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow you to put your favorite apps on your vehicle’s touchscreen, which makes navigating menus much easier to do while driving. You can also use voice commands and the Siri function for a completely hands-free experience. This level of connectivity is a life-saver on busy Houston freeways.

3.) MIB3 Infotainment System

On the 2021 models of Volkswagen, drivers will now have access to the newly redesigned MIB3 infotainment system. That’s not just one feature, but rather, a full suite of them. Included in the MIB3 infotainment system are wireless App-Connect®, multi-phone pairing, USB-C charging, upgraded available navigation system with improved map designs, enhanced voice recognition, and SiriusXM® with 360L streaming and satellite content on most models.

4.) Advanced Safety Features

When you’re out there on the road traveling at high speeds or in low light situations, nothing is more important than staying safe and constantly being aware of your surroundings. Fortunately, Volkswagen makes this easy for drivers by offering a full package of advanced safety features that includes forward collision warning, blind spot monitor, rear traffic alert, lane assist, front assist, adaptive cruise control, and high beam control. The 2021 VW Tiguan for sale was voted as a top safety pick by IIHS.

5.) Low Service/Maintenance Costs

You can’t take on Houston traffic if your vehicle is constantly in the shop. That’s why the low cost of maintenance rounds out our list. According to a recent study conducted by Your Mechanic, Volkswagen vehicles only cost $7,800 to maintain over the course of the first ten years of owning them. That put it at #22 on a list of the thirty cars that were surveyed (lower is better). For the sake of comparison, BMW ranked #1 on the list by costing drivers approximately $17,800 in repairs and service over the ten-year period. Mercedes-Benz was right behind BMW with $12,900. When it comes to getting replacement Volkswagen parts or routine maintenance, you can be assured that our VW service department won’t charge a premium like some of our German counterparts.

All the Reasons Why Owning a VW Makes Parenting Easier

Being a parent means living a life that’s constantly on-the-go. When searching for a car or SUV, you’re not only shopping for the vehicle that suits your personal style and driving habits, but your kids as well. Your vehicle needs to be capable of fitting a car seat, lugging around sports equipment, and able to accommodate a few friends when weekend plans are made and you’re on drive duty. The Volkswagen Atlas – Best Family Car of 2021

Volkswagen has won several awards and appeared on many “best of” lists over the years, but being named as one of the best family cars in 2021 by Parents magazine is a big deal for us. What’s even better is that this is the fourth year in a row that we’ve appeared on their list of best vehicles, which means we’re consistently meeting the needs of the American family.

For those not familiar with our award-winning vehicle, the VW Atlas is a three-row SUV that is perfect for big families that require lots of cargo space. It can handle any grocery run or camping trip you throw at it. The sheer size of the Atlas along with its turbocharged four-cylinder 3.6L V6 engine make this VW a force to be reckoned with on the road. The Atlas also comes with an extensive list of safety features such as forward collision warning, pedestrian monitoring, and blind spot monitoring. This is a vehicle that was specifically designed to keep you and your family safe.

Of course, no Volkswagen would be complete without entertainment features, and the Atlas doesn’t skimp on providing all the modern conveniences both you and your kids will love. The Atlas has Wi-Fi capability (with subscription of data plan) so that you and your family can access all your favorite websites and apps when on the road. The Atlas also comes with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, which means you can seamlessly connect your phone to the vehicle. App-Connect allows you to have all your favorite smartphone apps appear right on the Atlas’s touchscreen display. This makes it much easier to keep your eyes on the road, which leads to safer driving habits. If you’ve been searching for terms like “new cars near me” looking for the perfect family vehicle, parents agree that the VW Atlas is the perfect large capacity SUV for the job.

Low Cost to Maintain

If you’re an on-the-go parent who is constantly bouncing between school, the office, and after-school practices, the reliability of your vehicle is nearly as important as its safety features. One breakdown can throw off the entire schedule of you and your family, which means that you want to go with a car that’s made to last and won’t throw you any curveballs when it comes to services and repairs. Unexpected car repairs can throw off your family’s entire budget, so you’re in good hands here at Volkswagen Clear Lake since Volkswagen vehicles are as reliable as they are safe and fun to drive.

According to a recent independent study conducted by Your Mechanic, they crunched the data on the top thirty car brands in the industry and ranked them based upon how much they cost to maintain over the first ten years of owning them. BMW ranked in the top spot at a budget busting $17,800 with Mercedes-Benz coming in at the #2 slot with $12,900. Way down the list sitting comfortably at the #22 position is Volkswagen with a 10-year service and repair tab of $7,800 over a ten-year period. That makes VW one of the least expensive cars in the industry when it comes to service and repairs, outranking major competitors Subaru, Jeep, and Ford.

Our VW service department knows that repairing a vehicle is never convenient for the owner, especially if you’re a parent. That’s why we place VW parts and our services at a reasonable price point. In the event you need Volkswagen parts, you can be assured it won’t cost you an arm and a leg to get them.

Other Family Perks

For those casually browsing for vehicles, you may have already seen the VW Jetta for sale or the award-winning VW Tiguan for sale. If you’re a parent that’s constantly on-the-go, you can’t go wrong with either one. In addition to having some of the lowest cost vehicles to maintain that are packed with family-friendly safety and convenience features, Volkswagen models are fantastic for gas mileage, easy to clean, and provide tons of cargo space with our large-capacity vehicles. They also can fit any variety of car seat securely and safely. That’s a big part of the reason why parents love VW.

Simple Tips You Can Follow to Get the Most Out of Your Trips to the Pump

It’s the age-old question: “How do I get better gas mileage out of my vehicle?”

With gas prices nearing $3/gal. for regular unleaded gas in Texas, a lot of vehicle owners are asking themselves if there are any ways to improve their fuel economy so they can save some money at the pump. Obviously, there are going to be some aspects that are out of your control, such as the standard fuel efficiency of your vehicle. If you’re driving a gas guzzling Hummer or similar vehicle, there’s not much you can do to improve your situation beyond changing up to something more fuel efficient. If you search “VW dealership near me” you’re going to find numerous upgrade options. For instance, the VW Jetta for sale gets 30 city/41 highway mpg.

However, there are other ways that don’t involve a new or used vehicle purchase that can help you stretch those gas dollars a little bit further. Implement the following tips to help you get the most out of your vehicle’s fuel economy.

Tip #1 – Use Fuel-Efficient Driving Methods

As any VW service center mechanic would tell you, when it comes to driving with fuel economy in mind, a more measured and tactful approach is the way to go. If you’re constantly gunning the engine for the sake of achieving excessive top speeds or fast acceleration, you’re going to be hitting the gas pumps before you know it to refuel. Instead, try to run the car at slower overall speeds and don’t floor the gas pedal when accelerating. If you take it easy on the gas and brake pedals, you’re going to notice overall better fuel efficiency with the car because you’re not driving it as hard.

Tip #2 – Vehicle Maintenance and Tires

It can be easy to forget to do required maintenance, but this is yet another way in which to improve your vehicle’s overall fuel economy. At the very least, make sure that you’re getting your oil changed every 5,000 to 7,500 miles and that your tires are properly inflated. Adhere to the ideal PSI out of your driver’s manual when it comes to tires, and make sure to check them on a regular basis if you don’t have a low tire pressure alert on your vehicle. Driving on low tires is terrible for fuel economy. When it comes to Volkswagen service, always go with VW parts to ensure compatibility during maintenance.

Tip #3 – Real-Time Engine Monitoring

If you really want to dig into the data of your vehicle, then you might want to invest in a real-time engine monitor. This device is typically used by dealerships and professional mechanics so that they can comprehensively diagnose a vehicle and its systems, including all things relating to the engine and fuel economy. Some of the more high-end monitors will allow you to analyze your driving habits and see how they affect your fuel economy in real-time.

Tip #4 – Drive with Minimal Weight

The more weight you’re hauling, the more fuel you’re going to burn through. Remember, your fuel efficiency standards are determined by your car’s manufacturer using no additional weight, so you’re going to see a noticeable drop-off in performance if you’re hauling lumber or other heavy objects such as toolboxes and construction equipment. In fact, for every additional 100 pounds you add to your vehicle’s weight, you can expect a 1 – 2% increase in fuel consumption.

Tip #5 – Add a Pickup Truck Cap

Weight slows down a car and can eat up fuel, and wind is no different. For trucks, an open bed is essentially a wind trap that is going to drag your vehicle down, meaning you have to apply more gas than normal in order to get to the speeds you want. To get around this, simply add a cap to your pickup truck so that your vehicle is aerodynamic again. Gas caps improve gas mileage by an estimated 13 – 20% on average. Much of that increase depends on the truck itself and the cap that you get. A good rule of thumb is the more aerodynamic the vehicle, the better it will be for your fuel economy.

Volkswagen ID.4

Breaking Down the Award-Winning Volkswagen ID.4

There’s a reason why the brand-new Volkswagen ID.4 has already been declared the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year from World Car Awards. Not only is the VW ID.4 a fun and sporty SUV that’s packed with all the latest features you’d want out of a vehicle, it’s also the first electric VW SUV for sale in its class to be EPA-certified to sustain over the course of long trips. In fact, the Volkswagen ID.4 has already accomplished an incredible 6,700-road trip and is confirmed to last 260 miles on a single charge. This easily makes it one of the most reliable electric vehicles in its class, officially removing any doubt that electric-powered SUVs aren’t up to the challenge of tackling long distances. The Volkswagen ID.4 sets a new bar of quality and performance for all new electric cars that will be difficult for any competitor to match, much less exceed.

No need to keep searching for “new cars near me” or “new cars for sale.” The all new Volkswagen ID.4 combines performance and eco-friendly driving all under an affordable price point.

Prepare to Go Electric with the Volkswagen ID.4

The Volkswagen ID.4 does something that very few vehicles have managed to pull off, which is to combine a fun, friendly car with an all-electric high-performance driving experience. The big complaint with electric cars is that they’re either too high in price or that there’s something missing from the performance aspect – usually range or power. That keeps a lot of people from switching from gas to electric because they’re worried about straying too far away from a charging port, which means that cross-country drives are out of the question.

With the Volkswagen ID.4, we’ve taken all the very best performance aspects and combined them with sleek design and affordability. The VW ID.4 retails for just a shade under $40,000, however, it’s one of the few vehicles out there that qualifies for a potential federal electric vehicle tax credit of $7,500. And with a 260-mile range on the ID.4 Pro model, you can ensure that you’ll rack up plenty of road time before you even have to think about your next charging session.

Of course, when you do need to recharge, the process is about as easy as it gets. With Level 2 Home Charging, you will get 23 – 34 miles off a one-hour charge with the ID.4 Pro model. When charging with Level 3 DC Fast Charging, you’ll get 62 miles on the ID.4 Pro after just ten minutes. Charging times will vary by model, but making sure that both driving range and charging times were convenient for drivers was a top priority for VW when designing the ID.4.

How the VW ID.4 Stacks Up Against the Competition

In addition to its exciting range, The ID.4 AWD Pro, which should hit our Volkswagen Clear Lake dealership in Fall 2021, starts at $43,675, making it the least expensive AWD electric vehicle in the U.S. By comparison, the cheapest Ford Mustang Mach-E with AWD costs $45,595, while the Tesla Model Y Long Range starts at $52,490. The pricier ID.4 AWD Pro S comes in at $48,175 and offers the Gradient Package, including 20-inch alloy wheels, a black roof with silver trim, and slightly revised bumpers. All ID.4 models carry a $1,195 destination charge but are eligible for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit.

When you start comparing the performance and features of the ID.4 to that of other vehicles in a similar class, such as the 2021 Subaru Forester or the 2021 Toyota Rav4 – both gas powered, by the way – the ID.4 really pulls ahead into a class all its own. For instance, the Volkswagen ID.4 touts a horsepower of 201 hp while the Subaru Forester only has 182 hp. The VW ID.4 also has massive torque at 228 lb-ft whereas the Forester falls short at only 176 lb-ft.

The Volkswagen ID.4 also has a few tricks up its sleeve that none of its gas-powered competitors do, such as wireless smartphone integration for compatible devices through App-Connect and wireless cell phone charging. It also offers Emergency Assist, Travel Assist, and Remote Access Services at no additional charge. The VW ID.4 also has some of the largest screen real estate around clocking in at 10 inches compared to just 7 inches with the RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

Finally, the new VW ID.4 limited-warranty lasts for 4 years/50,000 miles (whichever occurs first) compared to the other aforementioned SUVs which only offer 3 years/36,000 miles (whichever occurs first). The Volkswagen ID.4 is already proving it’s leaps and bounds ahead of its main competition.

Purchase Your VW ID.4

The Volkswagen ID.4 is one of the hottest electric vehicles on the market today and is already raking in big awards due to its performance and ability to give drivers an all-electric car with extensive range on a single charge. Add to it the clean design and futuristic details of the cabin and exterior, and the ID.4 is sizing up to be one of Volkswagen’s most exciting releases that it has had in years, especially for drivers looking to finally make the switch from gas to electric.

If you want to see what the Volkswagen ID.4 can do, the best way to start your search is by Googling “VW dealership near me” or to come directly to VW Clear Lake conveniently located at 15100 Gulf Fwy. in Houston. 2022 Volkswagen Taos

What You Need to Know About This Subcompact VW SUV for Sale

Now that everything is getting back to normal, car season is officially on. If you’re living in Texas and searching “new cars near me” or “new cars for sale,” then it’s highly likely you’ve seen the all-new 2022 Volkswagen Taos come up in the results. Although this SUV is brand new to the game, it’s already generating some healthy buzz from car reviewers and trade publications alike as a game-changer in subcompact SUVs.

When the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan was released, it was a breakthrough moment for VW and auto enthusiasts who wanted all the power and room of an SUV combined with sleek and modern design. However, for some, the Tiguan was a bit too big for their liking, and they wanted something that was more along the lines of a happy medium between a full-blown SUV and a sedan. Our customers asked, and VW listened, which is how we’ve arrived at our newest vehicle, the 2022 Volkswagen Taos. If you’re looking for a VW SUV for sale, this may be the perfect fit for you. Think of the Taos as a slightly smaller version of the Tiguan. This subcompact SUV gives you all the perks and features of a Volkswagen SUV, but in a slightly more compact packaging. See the full breakdown below on the VW Taos and where to locate it at your local Volkswagen dealer.

2022 Volkswagen Taos Main Specs

When it comes to talking about the brand-new Volkswagen Taos, naturally, we compare it to the 2021 Tiguan quite often because it’s the most similar vehicle on the lot that our drivers are familiar with. Obviously, since the VW Taos is a subcompact SUV, you can expect the classic SUV feel on a slightly smaller scale. For instance, the 2021 Tiguan offers 73.5 cu. ft. of cargo space compared to the Taos which offers 66.3 cu. ft. of cargo space, which is still more than enough to handle any grocery trip or camping adventure where you need to pack heavy.

Looking under the hood, the Tiguan has a 2.0L Turbo I-4 engine with 184 hp. The Volkswagen Taos offers a 1.5L Turbo I-4 engine with 158 hp, which is still plenty of get-up-and-go when you need it. The Taos’ turbo engine and eight-speed automatic transmission makes getting from zero to sixty a breeze when merging onto the highway, but where it really excels is on the gas mileage front. Whereas the 2021 VW Tiguan offers 23 city/29 highway mpg, the all new VW Taos has it beat with 28 city/36 highway mpg, which makes it perfect for your daily commute and long-distance trips. To further customize, you’ll have your choice between all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive.

Those that have had the pleasure of test-driving the Volkswagen Taos have remarked on its ability to remain nimble and light while also feeling solid and secure in its construction. It’s the perfect car for those that like the driving style of a sedan with all the storage and elevated visibility of an SUV. The 2022 VW Taos meets perfectly in the middle.

2022 Volkswagen Taos Features

You’d be hard-pressed to find a vehicle that touts more features than the 2022 VW Taos. The beauty of this Volkswagen SUV is that it provides all the luxury amenities without the wallet-breaking price tag that usually comes with them. Some of our favorites include:

The New Volkswagen ID.4 sets a much higher standard for electric vehicles.

In the race for electrification, nearly every auto manufacturer has plans for offering fully electric vehicles (EV’s) soon. Because of this competition, EV prices are dropping and finally, are starting to be a realistic option for most people as they consider their next car — even against traditional internal combustion engines.

However, when looking forward to the models available in this segment, there is one forthcoming model that is poised to rise above the electric and internal combustion competition: the Volkswagen ID.4 from Volkswagen Clear Lake.

The new EV from VW, the ID.4 is everything you could want in a vehicle, made even better by its electrification—a true EV for the masses.

If you are looking for electric vehicles in Houston, here are five reasons you should look at the ID.4 from Volkswagen Clear Lake

Aggressively priced

In the compact SUV segment, $30,000 – $40,000 can get you a lot for your money. Heavy hitters like the Toyota Rav4, Honda CR-V, and Mazda CX-5, all fall within this range — but none of them offer fully electric versions of those models or the amount of advanced standard features and space that the VW ID.4 does.

If EV’s are what you’re cross-shopping, the closest competitors are the Tesla Model Y and the upcoming Ford Mustang Mach-E (it’s not a traditional Mustang, but an EV SUV wearing a Mustang badge). However, their expensive starting prices, starting at over $49,990 and $42,895 respectively, are out of reach for many Houstonians.

This is where the appeal of the VW ID.4 is strong. The ID.4 is everything those vehicles are and more, albeit at a lower starting price.

VW ID.4

The ID.4 will start at $39,995 for the Pro trim level, and $43,995 for the 1st Edition, which is already sold out. Both of the stated prices are before the federal tax credit of $7,500.
Compared with the higher starting prices of Tesla and Ford, the VW ID.4 makes a compelling case for “the whole package” and a competitive price.

Enhanced standard features

The attractive pricing of the ID.4 is made all the more enticing considering the vast amount of standard features included that are usually only seen on vehicles costing much more than the ID.4.

Futuristic interior aside, the ID.4 is replete with features like 82kWh of battery power, heated mirrors, park distance control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, customizable ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charging, a 10″ color touchscreen with navigation, Forward Collision Warning, and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist), Pedestrian Monitoring (included in Front Assist), Blind Spot Monitor (Side Assist), Rear Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Travel Assist, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, and much more.

There are more standard technical, safety, and interior features on the ID.4 than any other vehicle even close to this price!

If the latest tech and features are important to you, especially when wrapped in a fully electric package, look no further than the VW ID.4 from Volkswagen Clear Lake.

Maximum interior space

In the ID.4, the vehicle’s battery is flat, almost like a skateboard that you then put the vehicle’s body on. This platform, VW’s new MEB platform, is all about keeping a low center of gravity while maximizing interior space.

James Tate of The Drive describes the spacious interior as “…functional, and fun, the interior feels airy, particularly considering the CUV’s small size. It’s easy to get in and sit down, regardless of which door you’ve opened.”

While the ID.4 is considered a compact SUV, it feels anything but compact inside. The ID.4 is designed with all passengers in mind, not just the driver. With enough room for four friends, legroom in the rear is a generous 37.6 inches, with cargo space coming in at 64.2 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down, the ID.4 is capable of much more than its size would suggest.

Fun Driving Experience

So, sure, the ID.4 is affordable, spacious, and rich in standard features, but how does it drive?
If reviews from reputable car review institutions like Car and Driver, and The Drive are any indication, the ID.4 is delightful.

“In the solid win column, the ID.4 was clearly the best-handling machine in our trio,” states Jonathon Ramsey of Car and Driver. “Steering is sharp…damping and body control are excellent…it hasn’t sacrificed roominess or utility for looks. Dynamically, the little crossover already delivers, a chunky pup game to get friskier than almost any of its buyers will ever demand.”

With the ID.4 electric doesn’t mean sacrifice. From the moment you hit the pedal, you’ll feel instant torque!

With a range of 250 miles, fun driving dynamics, excellent standard features, and space to spare—not to mention never having to fill up with gas again—the ID.4 is a compelling choice for those looking for an EV that can do it all, at affordable price.

Ease of ordering

Curious about building one out for yourself? Meet the ID.4 here. You can go to VW Clear Lake and start building your ID.4 so you get it just the way you want it.

As mentioned, the 1st Editions are already sold out, but the Pro trim is still available to reserve. Due to limited supply, it’s best to order one ahead of time at Volkswagen Clear Lake. Reserving an ID.4 only costs $100 and is refundable should you decide to wait. But, with all that the ID.4 offers, why would you?
