What We Know So Far About This Forthcoming Electric Vehicle
For those of you just tuning in, Volkswagen has made some amazing strides in the electric vehicle market. The VW ID.4 – the first foray into the EV space by VW – was the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year Award and was named one of Wards Best User Experiences. This future-forward EV can drive up to 275 miles on a single charge (Pro model) and offers drivers all the hallmarks of the classic SUV experience.
Of course, the plan was always to expand the electric vehicle line. VW has gone on record several times stating that EVs are going to make up a large percentage of their offering moving forward. The VW ID.4 was just the beginning. Coming down the pipe in the near future are the VW ID.LIFE, the VW ID.Buzz, and the VW ID.AERO, which will be the first EV sedan from Volkswagen.
The VW ID.AERO – What We Know So Far
The VW ID.AERO is still in the concept phase at the moment, which means nothing is set in stone just yet. However, it is far enough along in the development process that we’re fairly certain this vehicle will go into production. According to press releases from VW, the ID.AERO will initially release in Europe sometime in 2023.
A recent article from Car and Driver estimates that a global release of the ID.AERO will occur in 2024. Of course, these dates are educated guesses; the release may be moved depending on the automaker’s ability to secure battery materials and semiconductor chips. VW is currently in formal talks with government officials to source battery materials in Canada. If everything goes well, this should allow the automaker to ramp up production on all electric vehicles in its EV offering.
“With the ID.AERO show car, we are revealing a preview of the next member of the ID. family. A car with an emotional and at the same time extremely aerodynamic design, a range of over 600 kilometers, an extraordinary amount of space and a premium interior,” says Ralf Brandstätter, Chief Executive Officer of Volkswagen Passenger Cars.
When the ID.AERO is finally released, drivers should expect a futuristic take on the mid-size sedan with a range of at least 350 miles on a single charge. In fact, the range may exceed that considering that VW has at least a year or so to advance their battery technology.
The fully electric four-door is incredibly stylish and aerodynamic, according to the few images that we’ve seen so far from the automaker. Although no shots have gone public for the interior, VW has a penchant for releasing sedans with generous cabin space.
Drivers should also expect a cornucopia of safety and infotainment features along with some new features that are only being showcased on 2023 models. One such feature is the ID.Light, which is the VW version of the Alexa voice assistant. It can be used to adjust the temperature, open the moonroof, and plenty of other simple commands.
Consistent with the ID.4 and the ID.Buzz, the ID.AERO will also utilize the modular electric drive matrix (MEB), which permits for a long wheelbase and short overhangs. MEB also allows for additional battery modules to be added onto the vehicle at a later date, which means drivers may get even more range in the future.
One final area of interest is the starting MSRP. VW electric cars for sale have generally undercut the other major competitors in the EV space. According to Car and Driver, they estimate the entry-level ID.AERO will retail for approximately $35,000 with the top tier trim level coming in around $47,000. It’s also worth noting that there may be a tax credit that buyers can take advantage of on their purchase.

Meet the New 2023 Volkswagen Taos

Getting to Know This Speedy Subcompact SUV
There’s so much to love about the 2022 Volkswagen Taos. Drivers enjoy its agile and nimble driving style. The subcompact build delivers all the main hallmarks of an SUV without feeling heavy or sluggish. The VW Taos also gave drivers a reason not to be afraid of the gas pumps anymore. Clocking in at an estimated 28 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway, the Taos was the saving grace for many drivers on a budget.
And speaking of budget, the Volkswagen Taos is one of the most competitively priced SUVs on the market. With a starting MSRP under $25,000, drivers can finally get a reliable SUV for a price they can afford. Tack on an amazing safety and infotainment feature package and an industry leading warranty, and you can see why both drivers and reviewers alike love the VW Taos.
So, what can be expected with the 2023 version? Let’s break down!
2023 Volkswagen Taos Main Specs
The entry-level VW Taos will come with a 1.5T TSI 8-speed automatic engine that yields 184 lb-ft. of torque and 158 horsepower. However, drivers who opt for the highest trim level (SEL) will get a 1.5T TSI 7-speed DSG engine with 4MOTION, which is the souped-up version of all wheel drive. 4MOTION sends the majority of the vehicle’s power to the front axle, giving them the handling of a front-wheel drive vehicle while maintaining the traction of an AWD vehicle. It’s perfect for slick surface driving.
Two things that will be remaining the exact same on the VW Taos are the gas mileage and cargo space. Drivers of the newest version can count on getting an estimated 28 mpg city/36 mpg highway just like the 2022 model. Additionally, the max cargo space of 65.9 cubic feet (with seats folded down) will remain consistent.
2023 Volkswagen Taos Features
The previous model of the Taos was well regarded for its generous feature package, and the 2023 will stick to that winning formula. Drivers of the VW Taos SEL trim can expect the following features to be included:
- 8″ touchscreen navigation & AM/FM/HD Radio
- Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro: 10.25″ configurable digital instrument display
- Wireless charging (for compatible devices)

What to Bring for a Fun Afternoon at NRG Stadium in Your Volkswagen SUV
Football is back and you know what that means: countless hours sunk into getting your fantasy line-up just right and trying to win the weekly office pool. More importantly, it means afternoon tailgating at NRG stadium.
Although we’ll forever have to live with having a tie on our record to kick off the season (seriously, there needs to be a rule change for that), you don’t have to live with subpar tailgating when you hit the lot in your VW SUV this fall.
Those who have been keeping track of new cars for sale in Houston already know that Volkswagen has a superior lineup of subcompact to full-sized SUVs. However, to bring your Volkswagen SUV up to stadium-ready status, you’re going to need a little help in the tailgating supplies department. Here are our top five can’t miss picks:
#1 – A Really Good Grill
Although the folks in Kansas City and Memphis may disagree, we truly do BBQ better out here in the great state of Texas. Take your tailgating up a notch by bringing out your finest meats and portable grill in any of the spacious Volkswagen SUVs. Don’t forget to pack up coals, seasoning, and BBQ utensils.
#2 – The Ultimate Cooler
You’re not tailgating properly unless you have beverages…lots and lots of beverages. Do yourself a favor and go with a reinforced cooler that offers lots of storage capacity. 70 quarts or more is usually enough to handle all the beverages, ice, and meats that you’re taking out to the stadium. Save yourself some back pain and go with a cooler with wheels; it’ll make moving it around much easier.
#3 – Pop-Up Canopy Tent
You know how it is in Texas – we have to be ready for anything, and that includes inclement weather. One week we’ll get hit with sun and heat and a week later the temperature will dip down and turn rainy and miserable. Best be prepared for anything with your own personal pop-up canopy tent. This gives you and your crew some much needed coverage should the weather turn sour out at NRG stadium. Make sure to go with the Volkswagen SUV that has enough cargo space to hold your tent; the VW Atlas provides the most room with up to 96.8 cubic ft.
#4 – Superior Speaker
Everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes the crowd noise. It can get rowdy and loud out in the parking lot of NRG Stadium, so you’re going to need a superior speaker that can compete with the noise. Go with a portable speaker that can pair wirelessly with your phone via Bluetooth. You can place the speaker in the back of your VW SUV and control the playlist conveniently from your phone.
#5 – Dining Essentials
Not everyone likes to stand and eat, so do your fellow tailgaters and yourself a favor by bringing out some dining essentials in the back of your Volkswagen SUV. This includes a sturdy folding table, chairs, along with napkins, plates, and cutlery. You don’t want to walk into NRG stadium with BBQ sauce all over your fingers.

Planning on Test Driving a VW Car or SUV? Follow This Helpful Checklist
Nothing is more exciting than test driving a brand-new VW car or SUV. In fact, it can be so exciting that it can be easy to overlook a lot of items that are important to you in the heat of the moment. The last thing that we want is for you to leave our dealership having forgotten to ask about trim level, feature packages, or other items regarding the new Volkswagen for sale you have your eye on.
To help you get the most out of your visit to our new car dealership here at VW Clear Lake, we’ve come up with a checklist of best practices to use when shopping for Volkswagen cars. The next time that you’re shopping for new cars for sale in Houston, you will be totally prepared.
#1 – Make Your List of “Must-Have” Items
Everybody has slightly different priorities when it comes to shopping for new cars. For instance, some people have especially long commutes to work, and so fuel economy ranks at the top of the list. Other folks may have a huge family they need a cart around, and so seating and storage capacity are king in their book.
When considering a new Volkswagen for sale, think about those one or two “must-have” items that have to be included with the vehicle. Not only does this help narrow down the selection, but it also saves time because our sales associates won’t show you anything that doesn’t meet your needs.
#2 – Test Drive the Car Like You Already Own It
Just because you’re test driving a vehicle doesn’t mean you have to scale back on your driving style like it’s a driver’s ed exam. Drive the vehicle how you would normally drive it. If you would normally get a good amount of acceleration for a highway merge – do it. If you want to test the integrity of the brakes with a hard stop – by all means – give it a go (but do it safely, of course).
Getting the most out of your test drive means driving the vehicle like you already own it. Test out the acceleration and deceleration. Take the vehicle through a few challenging turns. Get a feel for the suspension and handling. If there’s a possibility that you’re going to put down hard earned money on a vehicle purchase, don’t be afraid to take it through the paces.
#3 – Get to Know All the Features
Test drivers of new VW cars can get so wrapped up in the driving and handling of the vehicle that they sometimes forget about one of the most fun aspects – the features. Volkswagen cars have long been a leader in providing the most advanced safety, convenience, and infotainment features. Some of our top features include:
- Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Backup Camera
- Blind Spot Monitor
- Bluetooth
- Forward Collision Warning
- Hands-Free Liftgate
- Heated Seats and Steering Wheel
- Future-Forward Interior Accents
- Keyless Entry
- Advanced Navigation System
- Rain-Sensing Wipers
Even standard Volkswagen cars come generously loaded with features. Need a walkthrough? Just ask your VW sales associate to hit all the highlights.
#4 – Ask About the Warranty
Don’t let all the excitement of driving a new Volkswagen for sale make you lose sight of one very important detail – the warranty. If you’re planning on buying a new VW car, you’ll want to be sure that it’s covered for things like accidents and routine maintenance. Fortunately, Volkswagen has one of the automotive industry’s leading warranties – Carefree Coverage. It breaks down as follows:
- 2 yrs. Service – Scheduled Carefree Maintenance (2 years or 20,000 miles)
- 3 yrs. Help – Roadside Assistance (3 years or 36,000 miles)
- 4 yrs. Coverage – New Vehicle Limited Warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles)
- 5 yrs. Access – myVW Remote Access
When you visit the service center for maintenance or repairs on your VW car, Carefree Coverage will appear in your records, making the process simple and easy. It’s also worth mentioning that this coverage comes included on every model of new Volkswagens for sale.

A Historic Look Back at the VW Golf GTI

And Where to Find a Speedy Volkswagen for Sale at a VW Dealership Near You
When you think of legendary Volkswagen vehicles, the VW Beetle and its subsequent re-release come to mind. You think of the VW Type 2 Microbus that was a huge hit in the 70s. And, of course, you think of the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Since its release in the 1970s, this small and speedy hatchback has been making a name for itself as one of the most agile and quickest vehicles in the entire Volkswagen catalog. It currently sits at the top of the heap as one of the most sought-after new cars for sale in Houston, not to mention several other new car dealerships across the nation.
However, just like any great automobile, the VW Golf GTI comes from humble beginnings and was limited by the technology of its time. Let’s take a look back and see just how much this vehicle has advanced through the decades.
1976 – VW Golf GTI (Mark 1)
The history of the VW Golf GTI kicks off in the mid 1970s. It was released onto the automobile market using a 1.6L inline-four engine that provided drivers with 110 horsepower and speeds up to 110 mph. If you put it up against an entry-level Porsche, the original VW Golf GTI could smoke it. This got the ball rolling on building the GTI’s legendary status.
1985 – VW Golf GTI (Mark 2)
No sophomore slump here. The second iteration of the Volkswagen Golf GTI maintained much of its design scheme. However, it was given a significant boost in the performance department. In terms of horsepower, the Mk2 improved to 137 HP using a 16-valve version engine.
1991 – VW Golf GTI (Mark 3)
To round out the original trilogy of the VW Golf GTI, designers made some changes to the vehicle to make it sleeker to shake off those 1980s vibes. More importantly, the engine got a much-needed upgrade. The Mk3 ran on a 2.0L inline-four that provided drivers with 115 lb-ft. of horsepower.
1997 – VW Golf GTI (Mark 4)
The fourth iteration of the VW Golf GTI was a huge hit, especially in Europe, where it became the best-selling vehicle in 2001. The length of the car and the wheelbase expanded slightly. Engineers also beefed up a weight a good 200 pounds. Drivers and reviewers alike often compared it to vehicles in the BMW lineup. The Mk4 was initially offered with two engine options: a 2.0L 4-cylinder and a 2.8L narrow-angle VR6 that yielded up to 174 horsepower.
2004 – VW Golf GTI (Mark 5)
After a seven-year slumber, the VW Golf GTI finally hit the market again with the all-new Mk5. Considering that this was the first Golf GTI of the new millennium, people could tell that VW designers and engineers were really trying to make an impression with this one. It was the first VW Golf GTI to offer a 6-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), which drivers and reviewers fell in love with immediately. It also had a top speed of 146 mph. For its time, this little hatchback had some serious zip.
2009 – VW Golf GTI (Mark 6)
The wait for the next VW Golf GTI wasn’t nearly as long as the last time. In 2009, the VW Golf GTI Mk6 officially hit the market. One notable fact is that the chassis development was supervised by German racing legend, Hans-Joachim Stuck. With a name like that attached to the project, expectations were considerably high.
Of course, in traditional VW fashion, this new Golf GTI more than rose to the occasion with a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine that yielded 210 horsepower in international markets (200 in the U.S.). It’s also worth mentioning that this iteration of the VW Golf GTI had some noticeable design upgrades. Included on this vehicle was the new honeycomb grill as well as the dual exhaust at the corners of the rear bumper, two elements that would carry on through subsequent iterations of the vehicle.
2013 – VW Golf GTI (Mark 7)
Lucky number Mark 7 hit the market just four years after the Mk6. For the first time in the illustrious history of the VW Golf GTI, this one was lighter in curb weight compared to its predecessors. Additionally, VW designers and engineers took the liberty of making some structural improvements to strengthen its build and improve its handling and performance.
With the performance package model, the VW Golf GTI Mk7 could get up to 230 horsepower and hit 60 mph in just 6.4 seconds. VW got some serious mileage out of the Mk7. It would go on to have several different facelifts and variants released during its reign as one of the speediest compact vehicles on the market.
2021 – VW Golf GTI (Mark 8)
The Mk8 iteration of the Volkswagen Golf GTI is the current day compact of the age, available at a VW dealership near you. For the first time in its history, this hatchback is finally offered in a four-door variety, making it easier for passengers to get in and out of this speedy vehicle.
Considering that the last VW Golf GTI was released in 2013, VW engineers and designers pulled out all the stops when it came to giving the GTI a complete makeover in performance and design.
Out of all the GTIs we’ve talked about, the Mk8 is definitely the most intimidating of them all. It also yields the highest performance with 241 horsepower and 273 pound feet of torque. Not many vehicles on the road can outperform the Mark 8. You can find this Volkswagen for sale at VW Clear Lake.
Ready to Drive the VW Golf GTI? Head to a Volkswagen Dealer Near You!
Now that you know more about the amazing history behind the Volkswagen Golf GTI, the next step is for you to get behind the wheel of the Mk8 so you can see how impressive it is first-hand. This most recent iteration of the Golf GTI has been wowing drivers and viewers alike since its release and has subsequently been included on many reviewers “best of” lists, including in Car and Driver.

How Inflation Affects Buying New and Used Vehicles

Things to Keep in Mind Looking at Used and New Cars for Sale in Houston
The past couple years have been highly unusual for the automobile industry.
As everyone knows, we experienced a worldwide pandemic. That pandemic had far-reaching effects on virtually every industry from healthcare to manufacturing, to retail, and especially the service industry.
One of the big impacts that the pandemic caused is the significant slowdown on the supply of semiconductor chips that are used in vehicles. These chips play a big role in a vehicle’s features and functions, including touch-screen infotainment systems, the air conditioning, airbags, seat belt tensioners, and far more beyond that.
With the semiconductor chip shortage, this also meant that fewer new vehicles were being released onto the market. In fact, some manufacturers decided to move ahead with the release of their vehicles without the entirety of their feature package, with the promise to install them when parts became available. The supply chain issues have caused major problems in the automobile world.
With the limited supply of new cars for sale in Houston and nationwide, supply and demand laws dictate that new cars now come at a premium. The years 2021 and 2022 have seen a major bounce-back in demand for both new and used vehicles, which has significantly affected the price in both categories.
The Effect of Inflation on Used and New Car Dealerships
In addition to supply chain issues, semiconductor chip shortages, and vehicle shortages, drivers also must consider inflation. In 2021 alone, consumer inflation rose a record 7 percent, which is the largest increase that the nation has seen in over 40 years, according to the U.S. Labor Department.
However, that 7 percent figure is the average for everything. When looking at the category of new vehicles specifically, Fortune Magazine reports that new car inflation has risen 12.6 percent in the past year. Additionally, Fortune reports that used car prices have risen 16 percent over the course of the past year. This all adds up to the new and used car industry looking very different than it did two years ago.
People are now able to sell their used cars for more than ever before due to such high demand.
They’re also changing the way that they shop for new and used cars, often relying on online sites that allow them to sort by price.
Additionally, more people than ever before are pre-ordering cars to ensure they get exactly what they want without having to compete with other buyers at new car dealerships. In fact, many VW Clear Lake customers are utilizing this very same tactic in regards to the Volkswagen ID.4 using the build and reserve function.
Will the Effect of Inflation Ever Wear Off?
According to U.S. News & World Report, the prices of used cars will eventually drop. That’s the good news. The bad news is that this is going to be a very slow and deliberate process. It’s not going to drastically improve overnight.
When used car prices begin to drop, it will be extremely slow. It’s also worth pointing out that many people who had been waiting on the sidelines to buy a used car might keep those prices from sinking. The verdict: don’t try to play the waiting game if you have a truly urgent need to replace your current vehicle.
Regarding the price of new cars, there doesn’t appear to be any encouraging news on that front. The current new car prices may very well be part of our new normal; only time will tell. If you’re in the market for a new car, your best bet is to focus on qualifying for a low interest rate on your loan, a low monthly payment, a great warranty, and getting the most that you can for your trade-in.
Considering the Cost of Ownership of Used and New VW Cars
It also behooves buyers to look into vehicles that have low cost of ownership. That applies to the sticker price, gas mileage, and the cost of repairs over the life of the vehicle.
According to an article released by Endurance that covers the top car makes that cost the most to maintain, brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Cadillac all ranked at the top of the list. VW, on the other hand, has such a historically low cost to maintain that its name doesn’t even appear on their list.
Additionally, VW offers what’s called Carefree Coverage on all late model vehicles. The coverage breaks down as follows:
When you visit the VW service center for maintenance or repairs, Carefree Coverage will appear in your records, making the process simple and easy.

And Where to Find New Cars for Sale in Houston That Are Perfect for the Outdoors
Some of us never venture outside beyond our city bubble, completely fine with sticking to the busy city streets and speedy Houston interstates. For others, secluded roads call out to us, beckoning that we venture across state lines into unfamiliar territories. For the modern nomad, this is the dream.
Some people prefer waking up in a new place in new surroundings every day. No cushy hotel or Airbnb. No reporting to an office. Just you, the road, and your vehicle. Frequent road-trippers refer to this as “van life.”
It’s similar to RV life, but scaled down to fit inside a van. The cool thing about these vans is that they can be modified to fit the lifestyle of the frequent traveler. They are typically outfitted with amenities such as a bed, small kitchenette, and even a toilet. It takes a bit of time and financial investment to properly outfit a vehicle for van life, but it can be done.
That brings us to our next topic, which is the VW ID. Buzz, the modern all-electric take on the classic van. It’s future forward, runs completely on battery, and is designed to be the next big VW electric car for sale once it hits your local Volkswagen dealer in 2024. As far as new electric cars go, the Buzz is the most likely candidate to integrate well with van life.
For instance, Houston residents will finally be able to day-trip out of the city to majestic Hill Country or the sandy shores of El Jardin Beach. There are charging stations all throughout Houston as well as all along the major interstates, so you’ll never have to worry about running low on battery. Once you’ve selected your destination, you can use the ID. Buzz’s ample storage for camping gear or you can fold down the seats, break out the pillows and blankets, and sleep comfortably inside your EV’s cabin.
The VW ID. Buzz should be perfect for van-lifers, cross-country travelers, and local commuters alike. Let’s review what we know so far about this game-changing EV vehicle.
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz – What We Know So Far
According to the reporting that’s been done so far, the VW ID. Buzz currently has a passenger version and commercial version in the works. However, those versions are specific to the European market. For the American market, the VW ID. Buzz is expected to come in a passenger version with a longer wheelbase for holding more people – and fitting more amenities.
The other big topic of conversation is the battery. Hot Cars reports that the range on the European version is currently up to 263 miles on a single charge. It is expected that the battery on the American version will be larger, which means U.S. drivers should expect driving ranges closer to 300 miles on a single charge. One other idea that’s floating around is that the VW ID. Buzz will be a net-zero carbon emissions van, which few new electric cars have been able to achieve. Only time will tell if that comes to fruition.
One thing that we can say for certain regarding the VW ID. Buzz and its interior space is that it’s being designed to be highly accommodating to big groups. Right now, the Volkswagen Atlas is the only vehicle in the VW stable that can accommodate more than five people. It is the belief of industry experts that the VW ID. Buzz will be able to seat at least seven passengers. What’s more, having that kind of interior space to work with means that those devoted to van life have lots of opportunity for making modifications.
Although van-lifers should be afforded enough interior space to make modifications, we highly suggest only making modifications you can eventually undo. As a dealership that specializes in both new electric cars and used cars, we can tell you that a modified van might be a hard sell if you attempt to unload it on the open market.
It’s also worth noting that modifications to the ID. Buzz may affect your Carefree Coverage, which is the warranty that comes with any late model VW vehicle. That’s just something to keep in mind for the future when you visit your local Volkswagen dealer to check out a new VW electric car for sale.

It is just a hair smaller than the standard Atlas, offering up to 77.8 cubic feet of cargo room (with rear seats folded down). Additionally, it packs a punch in the power department. Yielding 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft. of torque, the VW Atlas Cross Sport has plenty of get-up-and-go for those occasions when you need to put the pedal to the metal. It’s also jam-packed with the latest in safety and intelligent driving features, such as IQ.DRIVE. This suite of features includes:
- Active Blind Spot Monitor
- Rear Traffic Alert
- Travel Assist
- Emergency Assist
- Lane Assist
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Front Assist
Drivers of the VW Atlas Cross Sport will also have access to myVW, which is an app that puts numerous tools and convenient commands right at your fingertips. myVW includes:
- Service reminders, scheduling, and history
- Maintenance schedules
- Roadside assistance requests
- Remote start (if equipped) & lock/unlock

Is an All-Electric VW Tiguan Coming Soon?

Breaking Down the Latest News About New Cars for Sale in Houston in the EV Category
When the VW ID.4 came out last year, it changed the game for Volkswagen and the electric vehicle market. There’s a reason why the VW ID.4 won the World Car of the Year Award in 2021 and continues to sell like hot cakes in 2022.
Quite frankly, it does everything and more that an electric vehicle should. It delivers future forward design and features while also providing ease of use and a fun driving style. It gets an estimated 275 miles on a single charge (Pro model), which makes it more than capable of tackling the weekly commutes of drivers everywhere. It also happens to be one of the most affordable all-electric vehicles on the market, clocking in at a starting MSRP of $41,230 (as low as $33,730 after potential federal tax credit).
The VW ID.4 also delivers all the classic hallmarks of the traditional SUV, even though this vehicle is about as nontraditional as it gets. For those that need enough storage capacity for their weekend getaway or camping trip, the VW ID.4 provides 64.2 cubic feet of storage (with the rear seats folded down).
And don’t let the fact that this is an electric vehicle make you think that it’s lacking in power. Far from it. The VW ID.4 delivers up to 295 horsepower and up to 339 lb-ft. of torque, making it more than capable of leaving every other SUV in the dust.
So, what’s next in the world of VW electric cars for sale? It might possibly be a familiar face – the VW Tiguan.
Will the Tiguan be the Next VW Electric Car for Sale?
Anyone who’s been keeping an eye on Volkswagen for the last five years knows that they consider the EV market the next frontier of automobiles. The VW ID.4 was merely the beginning of a very long campaign to broaden their electric vehicle offering. There are plenty more electric vehicles in their catalog that are queued up for release including the ID. Buzz, the ID. AERO, and the ID. LIFE just to name a few.
However, from the perspective of an automaker, it’s much easier to convert an existing vehicle to electric rather than build something from scratch. Hence, why this next bit of news doesn’t exactly come as a surprise. Recently, spy photographers captured a prototype of a next generation Tiguan being tested.
It didn’t have any tail pipes and the front grill was closed off to most of the air intakes, which leads reporters to believe that this is either a hybrid model or an all-electric model of Tiguan. If VW is indeed testing an electric prototype of the Tiguan, experts believe that the SUV could make an arrival to European and American markets as early as 2025.
There have been multiple sightings of the test mule version of the Volkswagen Tiguan, which is why experts believe that this is an electric vehicle VW is seriously considering putting into production. Only time will tell if the Tiguan becomes the next great EV in the VW all-electric catalog.

Your Definitive Checklist for Used Car Shopping at Your Local Volkswagen Dealer
Navigating the world of used cars can be a real jungle if you’ve never done it before. There is a lot to keep in mind regarding price, condition, features, vehicle history, and other things that need to be covered before you decide to purchase.
However, with a little research and some best practices, even a relative newcomer can shop for used cars like a pro.
This brings us to our topic at hand: what’s the best way to find a used car near you?
If you’ve yet to stop by a VW dealership near you, they have a wide variety of used cars and certified pre-owned vehicles that have undergone a 100+ point inspection. Whether you’re looking for an SUV with huge storage capabilities or a small, speedy compact, your local Volkswagen dealer should have a used vehicle that fits the bill.
Before we get into the best practices of used car buying, let’s cover a few critical things you should have lined up before you shop.
- Figure Out Your Car Budget and Allow for Some Cushion: One thing that you’ll definitely want to do before you hit the used car lots is figure out how much of a budget that you have. This will effectively narrow down what cars you can consider for purchase. Remember, you should always build in a little bit of cushion on your budget. Things like insurance, sales tax, and other fees and surcharges will come up during the used car buying process.
- Get Your Financing in Order if You’re Not Paying Cash: If you’re not paying for your used car in cash, you’ll want to arrange financing. Fortunately, the VW dealership near you can totally take care of that for you. We have an in-house financing team that works with new and used car buyers alike. Simply visit the financing center on our site to get started.
- Do Some Shopping Beforehand: It’s always a good idea to have the approximate vehicle you want to purchase in mind before visiting a used car dealership. The beauty of the Internet is that you can get familiar with the cars you want before you actually see them. Try to narrow your choices down to two or three options. This will make your used car shopping process much smoother.
Things to Look for in a Used Car
By the time you visit a VW dealership near you, hopefully, you have a pretty solid idea of what you want and what your budget is. Once you have those major details figured out, your used car shopping can officially begin.
Keep the following important factors in mind when shopping for used cars:
- Accident report and vehicle history: A car that has been involved in an accident or that has had several owners in a short amount of time is a big red flag. In most cases, you should be able to see the accident report and vehicle history online. However, if for some reason it isn’t available, make sure that you speak with your sales representative about it.
- The warranty: Even though you’re buying a used car, you’ll still want some sort of protection built in in the form of a warranty. Many late model used cars are still on the vehicle’s original manufacturer’s warranty. Additionally, certified pre-owned vehicles often have a warranty that will cover the vehicle for a certain amount of miles. Whatever the case may be, some warranty is better than no warranty at all.
- Get the full service record: Before you step into a used vehicle, make sure that it is up to date on all of its services and routine maintenance. The last thing that you want is to inherit a bunch of service problems that you have to take care of out of pocket.
- Always be thorough when test driving: The test drive is a critical step during a used car purchase. You’ll want to be sure that you test drive the vehicle at low speeds through neighborhoods as well as high speeds on the interstate. Make plenty of left-hand and right-hand turns, and make sure to drive the car in reverse some, too. Also make sure to check things like the windows, the locks, the blinkers, the wipers, and so forth.
If everything checks out, you should be able to confidently move forward with your used car purchase. Remember to get a new insurance policy for your used vehicle as well as getting it registered with your local DMV.
